Lani Kai Travel Information: COVID-19 Update

Our Lani Kai Island Resort staff is closely monitoring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organization’s statements regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and following guidelines from these agencies and the local health departments.

Our Cancellation Policy:

Our Lani Kai Island Resort staff is closely monitoring the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organization’s statements regarding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and following guidelines from these agencies and the local health departments.

The well-being of our guests and associates is of paramount importance.

In response to changing marketplace conditions, Lani Kai Island Resort and Bay Inn at the Lani Kai is committed to ensuring our guests experience flexibility during these challenging times.

We are implementing the following policies:

  • For guests making new reservations from May 15, 2020, and beyond, they will have normal stipulations and rate rules if booking a non-refundable reservation, but vouchers will be available for anyone who does not still feel safe, or if travel bans have not been lifted by the time of arrival date. The voucher will be the total amount that was paid for the reservation and left as a credit for up to one whole year from the original arrival date.
  • Please note that changes to the reservation will be subject to availability and any rate differences.

Please note that this policy does not apply to travel associated with a Group booking. For guests with Group reservations (e.g., for weddings or other private events), please review the booking rate rules and contact the group organizer for more information.


*Important Information:

  • Some exclusions may apply. May exclude periods with special event restrictions or peak demand weeks. Please refer to the Front Desk (239-463-3111) for applicable terms or exceptions, if any, when booking or changing reservations.
  • Individual (transient) guestroom reservation refunds of any kind (e.g., cash or credit voucher) may take up to 90 days from the date of cancellation to be processed. The form and timing of refund may be subject to applicable laws where each hotel is located.
  • For group organizer questions on terms and conditions of group contracts, please contact your Special Event coordinator, events@thelanikai.com.

Our Commitment to Cleanliness:

New Cleaning Technologies

Our company has initiated new sanitizing systems of enhanced technologies, including hand-held UV wands and UV technology that allows for touchless disinfecting capabilities, on top of our staff’s deep cleaning and sanitizing practices. Between every guest, rooms are deep-cleaned, fully sanitized and then “sealed” while awaiting the arrival of the next guest.

In its everyday cleaning, Lani Kai Island Resort staff will continue using the highest classification of disinfectants recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organization to treat known pathogens.

Cleaning Regimen Updates

When guests check into the Lani Kai Island Resort now, they will notice a number of additions to the company’s regimen designed to set an even higher standard of cleanliness for their stay. Specific areas of focus include:
  • Surface Areas: In public spaces, the company has added to its already rigorous cleaning protocols, requiring Sanitizing Crews treated surfaces with hospital-grade disinfectants and that this cleaning is done with increased frequency. In guest rooms, Lani Kai Island Resort staff has added to its detailed cleaning practices, requiring all surfaces to be thoroughly cleaned with hospital-grade disinfectants. The company will also be placing hand sanitizers in each room for guests’ personal use.
  • Guest Contact: To help alleviate the risk of COVID-19 transmission through person-to-person contact, the Lani Kai Island Resort has set up signage throughout the property to remind guests to maintain social distancing protocols and has spaced and re-arranged furniture to allow more space for distancing. We have added a full partition at the Front Desk to provide an extra level of precaution for its guests and associates and is sure our staff is equipped with masks – both front-of-house AND back-of-house. You’ll see more hand sanitizing stations around the Lani Kai property – including set-ups near the lobby and Front Desk, restaurant entrances, and ground-level bars.
    In addition, guests are encouraged to text any requests they have, as well as place room service orders via cellphone, delivered right to their door without contact. These “touchless” services can all be done quickly by texting the Lani Kai’s Front Desk, 239-800-9046.
  • Food Safety: At the Lani Kai Island Resort, food handlers and supervisors are trained on safe food preparation and service practices. The company’s food and beverage operations are required to conduct self-inspection using its food safety standards as guidelines, and compliance is validated by independent audits. The Lani Kai staff is also enhancing sanitation guidelines that include hygiene and disinfecting practices. In addition, the company is modifying its operational practices for in-room dining.
